It was May 6, 2009 and Courtney was finishing the last day of her 2nd year of law school. Before I went to work in the morning I slipped a card under her front door that congratulated her on finishing yet another grueling year of studies and informed her that as a reward, I'll be taking her to our favorite bed & breakfast on Cape Cod for the night.
Since we were going to a nice restaurant, I cleaned up and put on a nice outfit and just about everyone in my casually dressed office noticed. All day I had to hear "Wow, you're dressed up today!" I had to play it off like I had an important client meeting, when in fact I couldn't wait to pick Courtney up and whisk her away for our surprise evening. Needless to say, 5:00 took forever to arrive!
After a quiet and relaxing dinner at the Chatham Bars Inn, we returned to our room at the Cranberry Inn in Chatham, MA. It was such a quaint, romantic inn that I knew it was the perfect place to propose. After putting our feet up for a few minutes, and trying to calm my overactive nerves, I finally game Courtney her surprise: she unwrapped a present to reveal a purse that she had wanted for years. She was so excited that she didn't even bother to open it up! After finally opening it (with my encouragement) she found a photo album filled with pictures of our 3 years together. Placed over each picture were lyrics to our favorite Sinatra song, "Day by Day." She had to remove the sheet of lyrics to reveal the photo and when she got to the last page, there was not a picture underneath, but a question: "Will you marry me?"
This is where things get a little foggy. I'm pretty sure I told her how much I love her, that she is my best friend and supporter, and that I would always be by her side. OR I could have babbled incoherently for five minutes. All I know is she said "yes!" and put the ring on... and I couldn't be happier about it!

Great session Rebecca! I love the second shot where the groom is in focus and the bride is soft. Beautiful! I also love the green wall you found to match the bride's shirt! Love Ybor!
Great engagement story and I love all the photos!
