Prior to the couple's first meeting Majken had moved from Houston to San Diego for a three-month elective rotation while she was finishing her Masters of Occupational Therapy degree and Daniel had just moved to Gainesville, Florida to start his career as a neurosurgeon at the University of Florida. One weekend in July 2011 Daniel was visiting San Diego with some of his friends on vacation and Majken and Daniel happened to end up at the same party where they met for the first time and hit it off instantly! Unfortunately, Daniel was leaving the next day to return to Florida so they exchanged phone numbers and for the next couple months, they talked every night for hours at a time. Not long after, Daniel found himself back in California for his best friend’s wedding and he already knew he wanted to ask Majken to be his date for the wedding. Of course, she said yes and they were reunited briefly again that September.
Shortly thereafter, Majken returned to Houston, received her Masters degree, and began working at Texas Children’s Hospital. Over the next several months, Majken and Daniel found opportunities to see each other despite the distance. He made a trip to Houston and she traveled to his neurosurgery meeting and they spent a vacation together in Fort Lauderdale. Quickly, they both knew they had found in each other that truly special one. The distance between Houston and Gainesville was not insurmountable, and Daniel was able to make regular trips to visit Majken, as their relationship deepened. After over a year of nearly twice-a-month trips to Houston, Daniel knew for sure two things : that Majken was the girl he wanted to marry, and that he needed to convince her to move to Florida! After getting both of their parent's blessings, Majken packed all of her stuff and Daniel drove 13 hours from Gainesville to Houston to pick her up. Shortly after Majken moved to Gainesville, Daniel planned a special weekend get-away. There, Daniel proposed to Majken on a magical April evening in Sarasota, Florida. Of course, she said YES! Quickly, they began building their life together as an engaged couple. Majken found a job as a pediatric occupational therapist, also at the University of Florida. Despite their busy schedules, they continued to make frequent trips as they found that they both have a love for travel – although, even better now that they are together. They have trekked across Florida, all around the country and even to Europe!
All of this leads to this very special day, April 18th, 2015. Majken and Daniel felt truly blessed, and were so happy to share their love with their family and friends, on what was yet another magical April evening in Sarasota! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Hoh!
