What an amazing experience Michael and I had working with Julie and Scott and their six children for the rehearsal dinner and wedding day! There is certainly a lot of love in this family and it was incredible to experience. We were able to visit SO many places around Key West and capture so many amazing photographs and moments!
We began by meeting Julie and Scott for a portrait session with just the two of them. We instantly had a wonderful connection and fed off the synergy, respect and love between Julie and Scott. Julie modeled when she was younger and she was such a joy to work with! So beautiful inside and out. These two made our job so fun, rewarding and easy!
One of my favorite moments was coaxing a rooster to pose for us and chasing him all around! Our persistence paid off and I finally nailed the shot!
Next we set sail with their six children and closest friends and family for a sunset celebration in the ocean around Key West. The moment that really spoke to my heart was when the sailboat captain invited Julie, Scott and their kids to take his place at the held and steer the huge sailboat themselves! I shared this moment with Julie prior to releasing their images and she sent me back the most perfect quote to capture the essence of this moment and their family: "Steer the ship of my life, good Lord, to your quiet harbour, where I can be safe from the storms of sin and conflict. Show me the course I should take. Renew in me the gift of discernment, so that I can always see the right direction in which I should go. And give me the strength and the courage to choose the right course, even when the sea is rough and the waves are high, knowing that through enduring hardship and danger in your name we shall find comfort and peace."
I thought it would be impossible to top the energy from the engagement session and rehearsal - but boy was I wrong! It was such a joy to watch Julie prepare for her wedding day with her mom and two sweet girls. I am sure she will truly cherish these heartfelt moments that we captured forever.
Julie and Scott shared a private first moment alone once they were both ready. I could not help but let my heart soar as I watched them embrace and whisper words of affection to each other. And then we were off on an exciting journey around the island! We visited a beautiful Banyan tree and Fort Zacahry for some amazing and diverse pictures! Next, their families came together for the formal portraits before we all settled in to watch as Julie and Scott exchanged their heartfelt vows.
The couple took a rest from pictures as they enjoyed cocktail hour and mingled with guests. But then we snuck away for just a few moments to capture some images by the pool and ocean and I am so glad we did!
The toasts were just lovely and then everyone was having a blast dancing the night away! I feel so blessed to have experienced and captured this amazing wedding!
