Julia and Zak were married in a beautiful ceremony and reception at the Museum of Fine Arts in downtown St. Petersburg, FL! This amazing couple lives in Texas, but they met in Florida and the St. Petersburg area has always held fond memories and a special place in their hearts so it was a natural fit when deciding where to get married. The Museum of Fine Arts was the perfect venue for the couple as they loved the elegant and modern feel and it had everything they wanted for their special day! We began our photography with the bride and groom getting ready and then having a first look together at the beautiful Renaissance Vinoy. Once Julia and Zak were able to see each other walked to the museum and worked with their family and friends to photograph their formal portraits before the ceremony. The museum has the most serene and peaceful courtyard for a ceremony with beautiful arches and calming water features. I loved that the bride and groom chose to do a unity painting in place of a candle. Together they painted a heart and their initials and it was a very unique piece to their ceremony. At the end of the ceremony the couple descended down the main stairs of the museum to a shower of flower petals and a saber arch. The groom is a civil engineer in the air force and it is tradition for the bride and groom to be presented through an arch of sabers. It was a really awesome moment! We photographed the bride and groom session in the museum gallery and on the front steps of the building. There is a walkway of beautiful columns that are just perfect for portraits. We were also able to visit the banyan trees and open field area of Straub Park near the banyan trees for a few photos before we were off to the reception! The reception space was beautifully decorated and there were a few personal details that I loved! As a nod to the groom's engineering background he hand drew a blue print of the seating chart for the reception hall that was to scale and the couple had signature drinks named after their dogs Vera and Ford. The celebration was full of delicious food and dancing and I loved that the bride and groom cut their cake with the groom's military saber! We were able to sneak away into Straub Park to photograph a few night portraits under the twinkle lights in the trees before the bride and groom departed for the evening! Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Zak Spranger!
