Successful SMS Studios Share the Knowledge

You can read an official review of our program on the IUSA TV Web site.

Successful SMS Studios Share the Knowledge

Successful SMS Studios: A Panel Discussion

Do you want to own a growing, profitable studio? Is that a trick question? I'd venture to say everyone would answer yes...and if so, I hope you caught at least part of the “Successful SMS Studios: A Panel Discussion” class on Tuesday.

Eric & Shawna Anundi, Jeff & Allison Rodgers, Prem Mukherjee, Ed Zemba, and Michael & Rebecca Zoumberos...these panelists represented some of the most highly successful studios in 2008. Yes, these are the people you want to hear from! And in this truly interactive class, you were able to do just that.

Now, I have popped in to many of the classes during Imaging USA, but this one took me by surprise (in a good way). There they were, all lined up, photographers who pushed their businesses to the top. And they weren't only giving a scripted program (although that's extremely helpful, too). They also took the time to answer MANY questions from individuals in the audience.

From figuring out the best way to avoid sticker shock in the sales room to increasing the wedding averages and more, the panelists pooled their creative and business minds to give those attendees solution ideas for issues they were facing. But you had to ask!

Keep your fingers crossed that SMS brings back a similar program at Imaging USA 2010—I’ll see you there!

Limelight Photography Recognized on an International Level

Michael and I had so much fun representing SMS on the panel today. It was such an adrenaline rush to be able to speak in front of hundreds of our peers. We are excited to share the tools we have used in our business to create financial success with other photography studios.

On a side note - we had NO IDEA they were going to be posting our gross profits - but there they were on the big screen for everyone to see! This did give us a huge boost of confidence in our photography knowing that we are the fastest growing wedding photography company in the country. We are excited to see what new opportunities arise with our sponsors for the rest of 2009.

These are our official speaking badges.

Yay! We found a moment to chat after our presentation with our mentor Ann Monteith. She is an incredibly gifted photographer and business woman. If you have not attended her Guerilla Management Class you have to!!!

Michael and Rebecca Speaking for Studio Management Services at Imaging USA 2009

We are very excited to be sponsored by Studio Management Services (SMS) for PPA's Imaging USA 2009. SMS has been one the key components in our success. This amazing organization is offered through PPA as as service to help photographers create and manage a successful business plan. We are speaking today at Imaging USA 2009 about how http://www.ppa.com/studio-management-services has helped our business so much.

Ann Monteith works together with SMS to create benchmarks that have proven to yield financial stability within photography businesses. If any of you are like me - I just wanted to make pretty images and have NOTHING to do with numbers. But I quickly realized with the help and support of SMS not only could I learn where my numbers were at, but also how to make necessary changes in things such as our pricing and session goals to improve our business. You want to keep a close eye on everything that impacts the financial side of business. After all, finances determine whether or not you can continue in the career you love!

The photos below are taken in the http://www.ppa.com/studio-management-services booth. The ladies in orange are our wonderful business consultants Bridget and Beth. We do not make any decisions without checking with Bridget first! Honestly, we could not run our business without the amazing support of SMS.

Limelight on iTunes!

Recording artist Josh Walther commissioned me to create a portrait for his new album Fall So Deep. Fall So Deep can now be downloaded at most major retail sites including NAPSTER, Rhapsody, Emusic, iTunes, Bestbuy.com, and Walmart.com.

When Josh Walther graduated from high school he moved to Nashville to pursue a career in the music business. Success seemed to come quick. He landed in a Band called McAlyster and within a year they were signed to MCA Records, home to artists such as Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, George Strait, and Trisha Yearwood. They recorded an album and released the single "I Know How The River Feels." They shot a video for the song that appeared on CMT, The Disney Channel, VH1, GAC and many other networks. The single reached #1 on Billboard Magazine's Single Sales Chart. The group disbanded in 2002.

Josh is currently in the studio finishing up his first studio album in eight years. The record is being produced by the legendary Brad Davis (Billy Bob Thornton, Marty Stuart, The Boxmasters) and Scott Mitchell. Josh has said that the new project features an acoustic pop sound with a bit of a Memphis edge. The album is being recorded between San Antonio, Dallas, and Nashville. The record is scheduled to be released this fall.

Check out more about Josh at www.joshwalther.com.
